WebsitesScholastic Book Leveling Wizard This tool will help you find books that fit your child's reading level and interest. There is now an app associated with this site that allows you to scan the barcode on books to determine the reading level of the book. (The books must be published by Scholastic to be included in the database.) Reading Rockets Are you looking for ways to help your child improve his/her reading skills? This site does a great job of giving specific ideas and suggestions based on the area of reading your child is struggling with. Education Website This is a great resource for information on how to help your child at each grade level. It contains links for articles, games and activities that you can do with your child. It also has a parent board to post questions or comments about your child’s learning. Common Core This link will take you to the English Language Arts standards we use to guide our instruction. 3rd Grade Reading Guarantee This website is a resource for parents regarding designed by the state. Bookpig This is like a Netflix for books! You can rent books for your child, or just browse the recommendations. Teaching Your Child to Read This site gives 10 tips and descriptions on how parents can help their children become readers. Parent Videos Scholastic has some videos geared towards helping parents create meaningful learning experiences with their children. Help My Kid Learn This website gives you activity ideas for reading, writing, and math. You can sort them based on the age-level they are geared towards. Growing Book By Book This is a great website to help parents support their Early Readers. This link takes you to a page titled "100 Ways to Grow a Reader," but I recommend navigating through the rest of the site as well. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library This organization partners with communities to set up an early literacy program by sending children ages birth-5 years old a free book each month. This link will take you to the page where you can check to see if the program is available in your community. If so, you may then register your child. Best Children's Books This site gives you lists of great children's books at each DRA level.
